Bijoya Dashami is celebrated today

At last comes the time of Bijoya Dashami.
The enjoyment of four long days is over. Idols will be immersed in water after a special puja. It is expected that the roads will be flooded by uncountable number of people tonight. To avoid heavy rush, family puja idols will be immersed a little earlier. Dashamighat is ready to tackle heavy crowd this year.

The night of Maha Navami

A huge crowd was seen in almost all the puja pandals at the night of Maha Navami, the last day of Nav Ratri. Some clubs arranged enchanting orchestra with popular songs. There was no trace of cloud and people enjoyed the night. Most of the popular Food Marts & Fast Food points were empty as they sold their highest within 10 pm.
Huge gathering of people is seen in front of the puja pandal of Sanghati Club.

The above image is taken in front of Bloodmouth Club at 10.30pm.

Pawan Hans is in the air again.... Visit Puja pandals

This year also the TRTC alongwith Pawan Hans Ltd. has launched a tour programme for the aged and children @ Rs. 700 and Rs. 500 respectively (a little hike in fair this year). The programme consists of a 20 minutes ride in a Helicopter over the City, covering many famous Puja pandals. Hundreds of people gathered at the TRTC Krishnanagar, Agartala to collect tickets for enjoying the ride. It started from 21 October. It has already become an added attraction for the tourists, visiting Tripura. It was introduced in 2011 and since then, it became a superhit event.
As a Tourism Expert, my advice is: Don’t miss it, as it is affordable.

City roads flooded by people at Maha astami...

Maha Astami started with a little cloud overhead. At about 9 am, people are seen rushing towards puja pandals with sweets for “Bhog”. At about 11 am, anjali starts. People prayed to Durga with fasting. To avoid heavy crowd at night, people are seen visiting puja pandals at 12 noon.

People enjoying Maha Saptami today

Today is the great ‘Saptami’ or Mahasaptami. Expecting the massive crowd en route, the Traffic wing of Tripura police set up “No Entry” in many roads after 4 pm. However, to maintain regular traffic and for emergency purpose, some major roads are kept open.
Band, Orchestra and many other entertaining programmes are awaiting for the pious people at different pandals.
Police is kept in high alert. So, there is no chance of mishap. Social organizations are providing roadside amenities like drinking water, first aid etc.
Heavy crowd is being expected at Puja Pandals like Shantikami Sangha, Ramthakur sangha, Juba Samaj, Aikataan Club, Polestar Club, Modern Club etc.
Flow of traffic is clearly visible from North Tripura (coming through Local Train) & South Tripura (by Bus and other mode of transport).

I was invited by my Student Subhajit Paul, to attend Puja celebration at their house at Nalgharia.

People of Tripura enjoying 'Shasthi' pujo today

It’s the much awaited festive season. The fragrance of ‘Shiuli’ is in the air. To provide maximum benefit to the non-pedestrians, the Traffic deptt. had lifted the ‘No Entry’ for the first day of the Durgapujo at Agartala. It must be noted that this year, the Govt. of Tripura has provided adequate security to strengthen law & order situation of the state. As a result, people flocked in the pandals, flooded the streets and enjoyed the day merrily. The gathering before the pandals were clearly visible at 8 pm to 10 pm. There was no cloud and amidst mild humidity, the people enjoyed the first day of Durgapujo.
